Hello there!

Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Carey Elsbernd and I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year!  I am married to an all around great guy, Bob, and have three wonderful children.  Bob is extremely supportive and proud of me for becoming a teacher two years ago.  My daughter Abbey is 16 and a junior at ACHS.  She enjoys Drama class, Colorguard, babysitting and reading.  Bradley is 12 and a 7th grader at ACMS.  He loves reading, golf, baseball, and Boy Scouts.  My youngest, Josh, is 9 and a fourth grader here at Prairie Creek.  It is great to have a child at the same school I am teaching at!  Josh spends his free time reading, playing with legos, drawing, participating in Cub Scouts, and playing baseball.  We are a close family that love to spend quality time together!

I live here in Andover and have been here for 10 years.  I enjoy camping, jet skiing, movies, and cats.  Also, I am a strong OU Sooner fan!  Sorry! :)  Before I lived here, I lived in Olathe, Ks.  Almost my entire family lives in Olathe.  We go back and visit and have family stay with us as much as possible.  I graduated from Baker University in the fall of 1993 with a degree in Elementary Education.  At that time, I started my family and stayed home for several years.  While in Olathe, I substitute taught for four years.  After moving to Andover, I substitute taught for two years.  I really enjoyed the substitute teaching experiences in both towns, but then I realized I wanted more.  So-- I went back to school at Friends University to update myself on some current teaching strategies.  Now I am ready and eager to teach and devote myself to your child.  I want your child to always feel safe and secure at all times.  The academic, social, and emotional success of your child will ALWAYS be my top priority.  My philosophy is to have fun while learning!  I will capture his/her attention with engaging introductions to every lesson and new concept.  My classroom will be positive with a lot of encouragement and praise for any improvement and jobs well done.

More information will be coming home soon regarding volunteers and specifics as to how our class is run.  I am soooo excited for this year and know it will be an awesome one for all!  Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
